Men's Tennis Conclude Day One Of The Chowder Fest

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of Notre Dame men’s tennis team concluded the first day of the Chowder Fest Tournament at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. by claiming six of nine victories against Minnesota. Seniors Stephen Havens (Cincinnati Ohio, Hill Christian) and Tyler Davis (Nashville, Tenn./Nashville) each earned a win, defeating Sebastian Gallego, 6-4, 6-2 and Julian Dehn, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, respectively. Sophomore Spencer Talmadge (Hillsborough, Calif./Junipero Serra) defeated John Thornton, 6-1, 6-2 and Michael Moore (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) defeated Eddie Svenda, 6-4, 6-2. Rounding out the wins for Notre Dame was junior Niall Fitzgerald (Wicklow Ireland/Blackrock College) and freshman Billy Pecor (Scottsdale, Ariz./Chaparral). Fitzgerald earned a win against Derek Peterson, 6-4, 6-2 and Pecor defeated Michael Sicora, 7-6, 7-5. The three-day tournament continues tomorrow at the Beren Tennis Center in Cambridge, Mass.
