NOTRE DAME, Ind. – In a true team effort, the visiting Notre Dame men’s swimming team moved to 3-3 overall with a 124-99 win over the University of Buffalo. The Irish had six single-event winners as the team won six of the 11 swimming events en route to victory.

Following the 400 medley relay, freshman Jonathan Pierce gave the Irish their first win of the night, completing the 1000 freestyle in 9:34.68, just ahead of teammate John Lubker. Three events later, junior Rob Fetter continued his success in the individual medley, just edging out teammate Scott Zumbach with a time of 1:54.48 in the 200 IM. Zumbach would also finish second two events later to teammate Ryan Verlin, who won the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:53.11.

After a win by Notre Dame junior John Lubker in the 500 freestyle, the Irish picked up valuable points in the 200 breaststroke with first through third finishes by sophomore Dan Szilier, senior co-captain Steele Whowell and junior Tony Foseca. The 400 freestyle relay team picked up the final win of the night for the Irish, winning with a time of 3:08.68.

Junior Dan Hickey gave Buffalo wins in both the 200 freestyle and the 1000 freestyle, while diver Dave Sofer claimed first in both the one and three-meter diving competitions in a losing effort.

The Irish continue on the road tomorrow as they face St. Bonaventure at 11 a.m.
