The University of Notre Dame men’s swimming and diving team won its second dual meet of the season 150-85 at George Washington on Friday, Oct. 26. The Irish (2-0) will compete against American University tomorrow, Oct. 27, before returning to campus.

Notre Dame controlled the meet by taking six event victories, including a dominating performance by the Irish diving group. Andy Maggio, Tong Xie and Joe Miller finished one-two-three, respectively, in the one- and three-meter diving events. Maggio posted scores of 299.70 in one meter and 308.15 off the three-meter board.

The 200 medley relay team of David Horak, Jason Fitzpatrick, Frank Krakowski and Matthew Bertke began the meet for the Irish with a victory in 1:39.08.

J.R. Teddy followed with a victory in the 500 freestyle (9:40.20) in the second event. The Irish 200 freestyle group of David Moisan, Austin Anderson, Michael Flanagan and Travis Kline jumped in the pool next and finished second, third, fourth and fifth respectively, to score even more valuable dual meet points.

The 100 butterfly group was equally effective for the Irish on Friday. Led by Krakowski’s victory in 52.80, the Irish swept the top four spots (Lucas Wymore second, Bertke third and Brian Coughlan fourth) to put the meet out of reach for the home team.

Other individual winners for the Irish included David Horak in the 100 backstroke and Jonathan Pierce in the 500 freestyle.
