COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Junior attack Tom Glatzel (Ellicott City, Md.) scored five goals, tying his career high, as 14th-ranked Notre Dame defeated Air Force 10-6 as the Irish improved to 3-1 and 2-0 in Great Western Lacrosse League action.

The win was the 12th straight for the Irish over the Falcons with Notre Dame winning 12 of the 13 meetings between the two teams. With the loss, Air Force remains winless on the season with an 0-5 record and is 0-1 in the GWLL.

Glatzel scored three of Notre Dame’s first four goals in the game. He opened up the scoring 47 seconds into the contest as he took feed from Chris Young (Camillus, N.Y.). Glatzel scored his second goal of the game just over a minute later to put the Irish up 2-1.

Eric Carrano scored Air Force’s first goal at 9:43 to pull the Falcons to 2-1, but consecutive goals by Young, Glatzel and Jon Harvey (Winchester, Mass.) opened up a 5-1 advantage for the Irish with 13:34 remaining in the first half. Dylan Quinn scored Air Force’s second goal of the game at 8:22, but Glatzel gave the Irish a 6-2 halftime advantage when he scored off an assist from Steve Bishko (West Islip, N.Y.).

Notre Dame scored the first four goals of the final two quarters with Young contributing his second goal. Bishko and Glatzel tallied Notre Dame’s ninth and 10th goals, respectively, while Keith Parendo (Mineola, N.Y.) first collegiate goal marked the 10th of the game for the Irish.

Air Force scored the game’s final four goals all in the fourth quarter.

Notre Dame outshot the Falcons 39-22 in the game.

The Irish return to action on Saturday, March 18 when they play host to third-ranked Loyola.
