CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—- The University of Notre Dame men’s lacrosse team was held scoreless in the final 27 minutes of the game and Harvard scored five unanswered goals as the 17th-ranked Crimson posted a 9-6 victory. It was Harvard’s first win over the Irish since 1990 and its second in five meetings between the two teams.

The loss is the fourth straight for Notre Dame as the Irish fall to 4-7 on the season. It is the first time since the program’s inception in 1989 that a Notre Dame lacrosse team has dropped four straight

Harvard, which improves to 9-3 in 1998, trailed 4-3 at the half and by as much as 6-4 much in the contest before its defense tightened and held Notre Dame to just two goals in the second half with its final goal coming with 12:15 remaining in the third quarter.

Owen Leary scored the go-ahead goal for the Crimson with 10:17 remaining in the contest after Mike Ferrucci netted a quick feed from Leary at 14:17 of the final period to tie the score at 6-6.

Junior Chris Dusseau and sophomore Stedman Oakey each scored twice in the game for Notre Dame, while senior Jimmy Keenan dished off two assists. Lawson DeVries, Doug Crofton and Mike Ferrucci each netted two goals to lead Harvard in the scoring column.

Harvard outshot Notre Dame in the contest 43-24. Alex Cade came up with 16 saves in goal for the Irish.

Notre Dame plays its final game of the regular season at home next Saturday, May 2 when it host Hofstra at 2:00 p.m. at Moose Krause Stadium.
