The Notre Dame men’s basketball team (16-11, 9-7) has earned the No. 7 in the 2004 BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Championship and will face No. 10 seed West Virgina (15-12, 7-9) in first round action on Wednesday, March 10 at 7:00 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN. The winner of the contest will face No. 2 seed Connecticut (24-6, 12-4) in the quarterfinals. That contest will be played at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 11 and will be televised by ESPN2.
The only meeting during the 2003-04 campaign between the Irish and the Mountaineers was in the BIG EAST opener for both team s on January 7. Notre Dame prevailed with a 63-52 decision at the Joyce Center in that contest.
