Martin Stone has guided the Irish to the most successful season in the program's history which culminated today with the announcement of the Irish earning an NCAA team berth.

Meghan Boyle, Andrea Doud and Pamela Jefson Named Rowing Tri-Captains

Notre Dame, Ind. – Notre Dame rowing coach Martin Stone has announced that seniors Meghan Boyle (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Andrea Doud (Redford, Mich.) and Pamela Jefson (Kalamazoo, Mich.) have been selected captains.

Boyle, who missed her junior season in 2004-05 campaign with an injury, was a key member of Notre Dame’s varsity eight boat in here freshman and sophomore seasons. A two-year monogram winner, she helped the Irish varsity crew to an 11th-place finish (its highest in school history) at the 2004 NCAA Championships after the boat earned an at-large berth. Her varsity eight crew also won the gold medal medal at the BIG EAST Rowing Championship that same after placing second the previous season. The victory helped the Irish claim the team title in that event. At the San Diego Crew Classic earlier in the season, she helped her team to a seventh-place finish in the Grand Final of the prestigious Jessop-Whittier race.

A member of Notre Dame Student Advisory Council (SAAC) and the BIG EAST Academic All-Star Team, Boyle is enrolled as a marketing major in the Mendoza College of Business.

Also a two-year monogram winner, Doud, began her career at Notre Dame rowing with the novice program as a freshman in 2002-03. She rowed with the first novice eight in her first season, helping that crew to a third-place finish in the Petite Final at the Central Regional Championships and a first-place finish in the Petite Final at the BIG EAST Rowing Challenge. As a sophomore, she rowed with the second varsity eight, varsity four and open four crews during the spring season. Doud was a member of Notre Dame’s second varsity eight boat that finished first at the ’04 BIG EAST Rowing Challenge.

In her junior season, she rowed with the second varsity eight for most of the 2004-05 campaign. The boat repeated as BIG EAST champions and helped the Irish capture the team title for the second consecutive year. Among the other highlights for Doud and the second varsity eight crew was a sixth-place finish in the Grand Final of the Central Regional Championships and a third-place finish in the JV Petite Final at the San Diego Crew Classic.

A Dean’s List student and two-time member of the BIG EAST Academic All-Atar Team, she is enrolled in the College of Science majoring in pre-professional studies and political science and is a member of Notre Dame’s prestigious Academic Honors Program.

Jefson, a two-time monogram, also got her start rowing with the novice program in ’02-’03. A member of the first novice eight boat, she helped her crew to a first-place finish in the Petit Final of the BIG EAST Rowing Challenge and a third-place finish at the Central Championships. Jefson rowed with the first varsity four crew during her sophomore season and helped that boat to the gold medal at the BIG EAST Rowing Challenge as the Irish captured the team title. As a member of the second varsity eight crew during her junior season, she helped that boat capture the gold medal at the BIG EAST Championships as the Irish earned the team title for the second straight year. In addition, that same boat took sixth in the Grand Finals at the Central Regional Championships.

A two-time member of the BIG EAST Academic All-Star Team, she is enrolled in the College of Engineering as chemical engineering major.
