Head coach Tim Welsh and the Irish will return to action against #15 Northwestern on Jan. 22.

Meet With Ireland National Team Cancelled

Jan. 8, 2005

DUBLIN, Ireland – The men’s swimming and diving meet between 21st-ranked Notre Dame and the Ireland National Team, originally scheduled for Saturday afternoon, has been cancelled due to the closing of the National Aquatic Centre in Dublin, Ireland, which was slated to be the site of the contest. The facility sustained damage to its roof from a tornado last Saturday and will remain closed until at least next month. The Irish, taking part in their annual winter training and competition trip, were able to find other training opportunities at the University of Limerick, but rescheduling the meet proved impossible.

Notre Dame’s trip to Ireland concludes this weekend, when the Irish fly home on Sunday in time to begin spring-semester classes on Tuesday. The team (6-1) will next be in action on Saturday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. in the Rolfs Aquatic Center, when they face #15 Northwestern in Notre Dame’s final home meet of the season.
