McLaughlin and Russo Named ACC Players of the Week

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame took home both the ACC weekly honors on Monday, as senior goalkeeper Keagan McLaughlin was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week while freshman forward Daniel Russo claimed ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

McLaughlin recorded a clean sheet in the season-opening win over Kentucky on Thursday, Sept. 17 at Alumni Stadium. The senior goalie made a career-high four saves and commanded the box with authority. McLaughlin hasn’t allowed a goal in any of his five career appearances for the Irish.

On the attacking end, Russo came off the bench and scored the game-winning goal in the 62nd minute off a header from a corner in the season-opening win. Russo’s goal came in his Notre Dame debut.

The Irish are back in action at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, Sept. 26 as they host Pitt at Alumni Stadium. The game will be streamed on ACCNX.
