Oct. 18, 2010

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – For the fourth time this season, volleyball outside hitter Andrea McHugh was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league Monday afternoon. By earning the accolade, McHugh has now been recognized as Freshman of the Week more than any player in school history since Notre Dame joined the league in 1995.

The Yorba Linda, Calif., native had seven kills in both the second and third sets as Notre Dame posted its eighth straight win over DePaul.

In BIG EAST play this season, the McHugh leads Notre Dame in kills/set (4.65), hitting pct. (.346) and aces (8).

The Irish travel to Western Michigan for a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m. (ET) on Tuesday (Oct. 19).
