NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Sophomore Andrea McHugh led Notre Dame to a 3-0 record during last week’s Shamrock Invitational to earn the season’s first BIG EAST Conference Volleyball Player of the Week award.
McHugh, an outside hitter from Yorba Linda, Calif., was the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year in 2010 and led the Irish with 58 kills in three tournament matches. She posted a career-best 25 kills to go along with 13 digs in a 3-1 victory against Idaho.
McHugh averaged 4.83 kills and 3.92 digs/set while recording double-digit kills in all three weekend matches. She also earned MVP honors at the Shamrock Invitational.
Notre Dame heads to California this week for the Stanford Invitational (Sept. 2-3) with matches against the host Cardinal and St. Mary’s.
