ERIN HILLS, Mich. – Senior men’s golfer Max Scodro (Chicago, Ill.) earned a spot in the match play portion of the 2011 U.S. Amateur Championship after making the 64-man cut on Wednesday from Erin Hills Country Club. The Irish veteran fired a two-day score of 139 (-3) to finish in a share of 19th.

Scodro will face UCLA’s Patrick Cantlay later today at 5:30 p.m. (ET). Live results will be available at usga.org.

Scodro played his first round at Blue Mound Golf & Country Club after registering a 67 (-3), followed by a second-round count of 72 (E) at Erin Hills.

Scodro is first Irish golfer to make the cut at the U.S. Amateur since Carl Santos-Ocampo did so at Pinehurst in 2008. Ocampo lost to Duke’s Jeff Edelman in the first round of that tournament.
