Notre Dame 2017 Maui Invitational Travel Packages

The University of Notre Dame men’s basketball team will begin the 2017 Maui Jim Maui Invitational three-day tournament in Maui, Hawai’i, with Division II Chaminade on Monday, November 20, at 9 p.m. ET (4 p.m. HT).

The Silverswords are the traditional host of the highly respected early-season tournament and own Maui Invitational victories over top-ranked Virginia (1982), Providence (1991) and Texas (2012). The winner of the Notre Dame – Chaminade (Game Three) matchup will face the winner of Michigan – LSU (Game Four) in Game Eight on Tuesday, November 21 at 10:30 p.m. ET.

Marquette, VCU, Wichita State and California make up the other half of the bracket.

Chaminade is the only Catholic school in the state of Hawai’i. They finished the 2016-17 season with an 18-11 record in the Pacific West Conference. The Silverswords have a 7-78 all-time record in the Maui Invitational. Notre Dame defeated Chaminade 94-78 in the 1993 Maui Invitational (then called the Maui Classic)

  • Notre Dame is 3-3 all-time in the Maui Invitational, including a runner-up finish in 2008.
  • The 2017 Maui Jim Maui Invitational will mark Notre Dame’s fifth trip to the Hawaiian Islands for an early-season tournament appearance.
  • In 1966, the Irish traveled to Hawai’i for the first time in program history for the Rainbow Classic. The Irish suffered two close losses to California (69-63) and Montana (70-69) in the two-game tournament.
  • In 2001, the Irish took part in the Hawaii-Pacific Thanksgiving Classic in Honolulu, defeating Hawaii-Pacific, Tennessee-Chattanooga and Monmouth on the way to the tournament title.
