University of Notre Dame senior guard Matt Farrell has been selected to the 3-Point Championship roster for the 30th annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships at Bill Greehey Arena at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio on Thursday, March 29.
Farrell is one of eight men’s college basketball players selected (full roster to be announced at a later date) for the event that will air live on ESPN2 at 8 p.m. CT. He was invited to take part in the 3-Point Championship after being recognized as one of the nation’s finest shooters from three-point territory.
Farrell led the Atlantic Coast Conference in three-point shots made per game (3.16) while shooting .377 from behind the arc (98-260) in 2017-18. He was a remarkable 10-for-12 from three-point range at Boston College on February 17, becoming the first Notre Dame player to connect on his first nine three-point attempts in a game, setting the Conte Forum record and finishing with the most three-point shots in a single game in the ACC this season.
The Bridgewater, New Jersey, native finished his career with 191 three-point field goals, which ranks 10th in Notre Dame history. He is one of only six players in Notre Dame history with 400 assists and 150 three-point field goals and his 2.69 three-point field goals per start average ranks fifth all-time at Notre Dame.

The program showcases the dunking and sharp-shooting talents of the nation’s top college basketball players during the Great Clips Men’s 3-Point Shooting Championship, the Marine’s Women’s 3-Point Shooting Championship, the Samsung Battle of the Champions, the Dunkin’ Donuts Slam Dunk Championship and the Applebee’s Team Shootout.
Over the last 29 years, several of the top players in college basketball have competed in the College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships including: Gary Payton, Steve Nash, Jason Terry, Kyle Korver, Bobby Hurley, Michael Finley, Damon Stoudamire, Allan Houston, Denzel Valentine, Yogi Ferrell, Wes Matthews, Cappie Pondexter, Katie Gearlds, and Kristi Toliver.
