Markezich Paces Irish At FSU Winter XC Classic

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The University of Notre Dame women’s team opened the spring cross country season at the FSU Winter XC Classic in Tallahassee on Friday. The Irish came in eighth with 209 points in a race that included 18 full teams.

Colorado (72), Stanford (77) and Duke (128) took the top three spots in the race, followed by Oklahoma State (181) and Iowa State (189) to round out the top five.

Notre Dame was led by Olivia Markezich, who crossed the line in 22nd place with a time of 20:46.5 over the 6,000m course. Teammate Maddy Denner was the second Irish finisher, turning in a time of 21:02.0 for 31st overall.

“Today was rough. We were without three of our top six runners from the fall cross country season and those losses were too much for us to overcome today”.
