J.P. Malette set a personal best in the 1500 with a time of 3:45.57.

Malette And Rae Each Compete At The 2010 Junior World Track And Field Championships

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Notre Dame’s sophomore tandem of J.P. Malette (Windsor, Ontario/Assumption College Catholic) and Jeremy Rae (Fort Erie, Ontario/Lakeshore Catholic) each competed in the 1500 meters at the 2010 World Junior Track and Field Championships, on Tuesday in Moncton, Canada. The duo both represented their native country, Canada.

Malette ran the opening 1500 heat and had great success. He stopped the clocks in seventh place with a personal best time of 3:45.57 for a seventh place finish. Malette improved upon his prior top 1500 time of 3:45.85, set in June of 2009 in Toronto, Canada.

Rae raced in the second 1500 heat, finishing fifth in 3:47.99.

Irish fans can now look forward to watching Malette and Rae in the upcoming cross country season. The opening meet will take place on Friday, September 3 at the Valparaiso Crusader Open in Valparaiso, Ind.
