Notre Dame, Ind. – Luke Harangody (Schererville, Ind.) has been named the National Freshman of the Week by after following his performances last week in Notre Dame’s two victories against DePaul and Marquette. In the two games, he averaged 17.6 points and 10.0 rebounds.

A three-time BIG EAST rookie-of-the-week honoree, Harangody produced some career-best performances in the two wins. Against the Blue Demons, he scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds and followed that up with a career-high 22 points (the second 20-plus point outing of the season) and matched his personal best with 13 rebounds against Marquette.

Harangody has played in all 28 contests for the Irish and has been in the starting lineup in each of the last 12 games. He is averaging 14.9 points (fourth best on the team) and is the team’s second-leading rebounder at 6.3 boards per game. The 6-8, 250-pound forward has scored in double figures on 13 occasions and has finished with seven-plus rebounds in 13 games.
