Notre Dame, Ind. – Sophomore Luke Boughen (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) has been named to College Soccer News’ Team of the Week after leading the Notre Dame to its 1-0 victory over No. 15 Boston College on Saturday (Oct. 12).

Also named to the team were: Tony Anderson (Vermont), Jimmy Frazelle (UCLA), Ryan Glynn (Bradley), Mike Munoz (California), Peer Rogge (Virginia Tech), Brian Rowland (UMBC), Gonzalo Segares (VCU), Mike Tranchilla (Creighton), Arturo Torres (Loyola Marymount) and Dimelon Westfield (Clemson).

Boughen netted the game-winner at the 93:36 mark of the contest off an assist from teammate Chad Riley (Houston, Texas) as Notre Dame defeated its third ranked opponent of the season, a first for an Irish team since the 1996 campaign.

The Irish midfielder has played in all 12 of Notre Dame’s games this season and has scored three goals. He scored the first two goals of his career in the squad’s 5-1 victory over Providence College earlier in the season. His score against Boston College marked the first game-winning goal of his career.

Boughen stands fifth on the team in scoring with six points. Notre Dame owns a 6-3-3 overall record and is 3-2-1 in BIG EAST play.
