Junior sprint-specialist Liz Grow (New Braunfels, Texas) will represent the University of Notre Dame women’s track and field team at the 2001 NCAA Indoor Championship this weekend in Fayetteville, Ark. The preliminaries of the 400 meters are scheduled to begin at 5:10 p.m. on Friday, March 9. The finals are set for Saturday, March 10, at 6:45 p.m.
It will be Grow’s second appearance in the NCAA indoor meet, as she also competed in the 400 meters in 1999. Grow enters the meet with the seventh-fastest time in her field, a 53.30 mark she ran at the Meyo Invitational (Feb. 3). That 53.30 time is a school record, breaking Grow’s 54.05 that she posted at the 1999 Alex Wilson Invitational.
The Irish junior also competed in the 400 meters at the 2000 NCAA outdoor championship and finished second in the event at the 2001 BIG EAST Championship (Feb. 18) in Syracuse, NY.
