Lisa Garcia Earns Honorable Mention All-America Accolades

Auburn, Ala. – Notre Dame junior Lisa Garcia earned honorable mention All-America honors after finishing 14th in the 200 butterfly on the final day of the 2003 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships. Garcia finished in a time of 1:59.09. It is the second All-America honor of Garcia’s career as she also earned honorable mention honors in 2002 as a member of the 400 freestyle relay.

Garcia qualified for the consolation finals after finishing 13th in the morning preliminaries with a time of 1:58.39. Georgia’s Mary DeScenza posted the fastest time of 1:55.10 in the morning session and went on to claim the title with a time of 1:53.51.

The NCAA meet concluded for two other Irish swimmers as junior Marie Labosky placed 28th with a time of 2:00.07 in the 200 backstroke, while junior Danielle Hulick was 28th in the same event in 2:00.09.

Junior diver Meghan Perry-Eaton also competed at the meet, earning honorable mention All-America accolades in the one-meter diving event on Thursday.
