NOTRE DAME, Ind. – A limited number of slots are still available for all sessions at the University of Notre Dame softball team’s annual fall clinic on Saturday, Oct. 3 at Melissa Cook Stadium. The Irish coaching staff and select Notre Dame players serve as instructors during the one-day skills clinic that covers all aspects of the game of softball.

The clinic will be divided into four separate instructional sessions, featuring two offensive and two defensive skills periods. Notre Dame’s fall clinic is the perfect way to refine abilities and techniques to better prepare all participants for the 2016 softball season.

“Swing It Like the Irish” is set to open the clinic from 10-11:30 a.m. (ET) at Melissa Cook Stadium. The offensive session will enhance the necessary mechanics involved in building a more powerful and efficient swing. All hitters will learn the proper technique and drills to use their body more effectively and translate into power at the plate. The session is $75 per player, and all hitters are required to bring a bat and helmet.

Also from 10-11:30 a.m. the clinic’s first defensive instructional period, “Pitching & Catching,” will specialize in the dynamics of becoming a high-level pitcher and catcher. Both position groups will take part in drills to enhance a variety of skills and pitch development, and pitchers and catchers will not be intermixed. The session is $75 per player. Pitchers are required to bring someone who is able to catch for them, and catchers are required to bring their own catcher’s gear.

The second offensive session of the day, “Irish Hitting Practice – Get the Most Swing for Your Time,” is scheduled to run from 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Clinic participants will take part in two designed one-hour practice routines that Notre Dame hitters use regularly during the season. Hitters will be engaged in a combination of drill and situational work to maximize the most of the swing. The session is $75 per player, and all hitters are required to bring a bat and helmet. Players are also advised to wear softball pants and be prepared to slide during live situational work.

The final clinic session, “Irish Defensive Practice,” will close the clinic schedule from 1:30-3:30 p.m. This defensive session explores designed drills that the Irish use to prepare for games. Clinic participants will be engaged in position specific fundamental training, while also taking part in team related defensive drills. All position groups are welcome. The session is $100 per player, and all players are required to bring their own glove. Catchers are required to bring catcher’s gear.

Acceptable forms of payment are cash or check. All checks are payable to Notre Dame Softball. To register, please fill out the clinic registration form here and return along with payment to: University of Notre Dame Softball, 209 Joyce Center, Notre Dame, IN 46556, ATT: Kris Ganeff.
