Lebedev Repeats As ACC Player Of The Week

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – For the second week in a row, University of Notre Dame men’s tennis junior Alex Lebedev has earned Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday.

Lebedev propelled the Irish to an undefeated weekend at the ITA Kick-Off event at Texas, clinching Notre Dame’s 4-3 win over No. 8 Texas on Saturday with a 7-6(5), 1-6, 7-6(4) victory over No. 37 Leonardo Telles in the last match left on the court. Notre Dame went on to defeat Minnesota 4-1 on Sunday to secure a bid to the ITA National Team Indoor Championships.

The Irish will participate in their first ITA National Team Indoor Championships for the first time since 2014. The event will be hosted by the University of Washington from Feb. 16-19 at the Seattle Tennis Club.

Lebedev and the Irish will be back in action at noon ET Saturday when they open ACC play at the Dedham Health & Athletic Club against Boston College.
