Landon Slaggert Named HCA Rookie Of The Month

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Fighting Irish freshman forward Landon Slaggert has been selected as the Hockey Commissioners Association’s Rookie of the Month for February, the organization announced on Wednesday (March 3).

In the month of February, Slaggert skated in all eight Notre Dame games while notching 11 points on three goals and eight assists. He had five multipoint games and ended the month on a four-game point streak (2-5-7). He scored his first career game-winning goal in Notre Dame’s 2-0 victory at Michigan State on Feb. 26.

A third round pick by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2020 NHL Draft (79th overall), Slaggert ranks third on the team with 19 points, while his seven goals are tied for second.

The South Bend, Indiana native missed four games in December while at the 2021 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, where he won a gold medal playing for Team USA. Slaggert skated in all seven games for the U.S. and became the first Fighting Irish player to medal at the event since 2018 when current Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Andrew Peeke helped the U.S. secure the bronze in Buffalo in 2018.
