Kyle McAlarney Named To BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

Notre Dame, Ind. – Notre Dame freshman point guard Kyle McAlarney (Staten Island, N.Y.) has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 15.0 points in wins over Niagara (80-59) and Columbia (75-68).

Rashad Anderson of Connecticut and Kevin Pittsnogle of West Virginia garnered co-player-of-the-week honors, while Geoff McDermott of Providence was names the Conference’s rookie of the week.

Joining McAlarney on the Honor Roll squad were James White (Cincinnati), Brandon Jenkins (Louisville), Terrence Roberts (Syracuse) and Allan Ray (Connecticut).

McAlarney, who has played in all nine games and made one start, is averaging 7.1 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.9 assists. Against Niagara, he scored 16 points (his first career double-figure scoring effort) as he was six-of-eight from the field, including a four-of-six performance from three-point range. In the victory over Columbia, he netted 14 points hitting five of his eight field goal attempts and was three-of-six from three-pint range. In the two games, he shot a combined 11-16 (.688) from the field and 7-12 (.583) from three-point range.
