Koscielski Picks Up Three Singles Victories As Irish Wrap Up First Fall Weekend

The Notre Dame Women’s Tennis team wrapped up the first weekend of fall competition at both the Wolverine and Auburn Invitationals.

In doubles play at the Wolverine Invitational in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the duo of Julia Lilien and Page Freeman defeated Michigan State’s Samantha Memije and Nicole Stephens, 6-1.

At the Auburn Invitational, Maeve Koscielski picked up three singles victories and later added two doubles wins, as well. Koscielski defeated Ole Miss’s Jones, 6-3, 6-4; Wisconsin’s Zordani, 6-1, 6-0; and Penn State’s Rohrbacher, 7-6 (3), 6-1. She then teamed up with Kansas’ Karvouni to defeat the Wisconsin duo of Markham and Tudor, as well as Ole Miss’ De Jong and De Samucewicz.

Ally Bojczuk picked up two singles wins, including a consolation quarterfinal victory over Wisconsin’s Tudor and then a win in the 11th place match over Kansas’ Manu, 6-4, 7-6 (3). Zoe Taylor followed suit with two wins of her own. She defeated Penn State’s O’Gorman before taking down Kansas State’s Mesquita, 6-3, 6-0, in the 13th place match. Taylor and Bojczuk then teamed up on the doubles side to best Penn State’s O’Gorman and Rohrbacher, 6-2.

Fall competition continues for the Irish at ITA All-Americans in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The tournament will run from October 4 through the 7th.
