NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Sophomore Emilee Koerner (Tustin, Calif./Foothill) has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after aiding the University of Notre Dame softball team to an undefeated weekend at the Diamond 9 Citrus Classic, the conference office announced Monday.
The weekly citation is the second league honor earned by Koerner in as many weeks. The Notre Dame outfielder was named BIG EAST Player of the Week Feb. 25.
Koerner batted an even .500 (6-for-12) in four Notre Dame victories at the Citrus Classic. She opened the tournament a perfect 3-for-3 with a double, triple, grand slam and five RBI Saturday in a 14-3 win over Boston College. Koerner added a tremendous play in center field later in the day against Georgia Tech, completing a spectacular over the shoulder catch while running through the outfield fence to take a base hit away from the Yellow Jackets.
The Irish travel to the Arizona State Diamond Devil Invitational March 9-10 in Phoenix, Ariz., to open a three-tournament West Coast swing.
