Kho in Sixth Place at ACC Championships

Junior is just four strokes off the lead

MILTON, Ga. – Notre Dame men’s golf player Taichi Kho is making waves through two rounds at the ACC Championships, climbing the leaderboard to sixth place.

The junior out of Hong Kong shot a 70 (E) in round one, followed by a 66 (-4) in round two, jumping up nine spots in the standings by Friday’s end. Currently, NC State’s Benjamin Shipp leads the pack at eight-under-par. 

Team-wise, the Irish will have some work to do on Saturday to move up the leaderboard and add some top-40 ranked wins to the resume while at the ACC Championships. Notre Dame shot a 292 (+12) in round one, then improved in round two with a 281 (+1). The Irish sit in 10th place at 13-over-par. 

ROUNDS ONE & TWO

Taichi Kho did not record a single bogey on the front-nine in either round one or two on Friday. In round one, the junior carded birdies on two and four and then went two-over on the back-nine. 

In round two, Kho tallied nine straight pars before incurring a bogey on 10. Then Kho bounced back with four consecutive birdies, followed by another birdie on 17 to finish at four-under. 

Palmer Jackson and Davis Chatfield each counted scores toward the team total in round one, firing off a 73 (+3) and 74 (+4), respectively. Then both Tucker Clark and Andrew O’Leary notched a 75 (+5). 

Later, Chatfield joined Kho with an under-par round in the afternoon, firing off a 69 (-1). As a result, Chatfield jumped nine spots on the leaderboard to a tie for 32nd. 

Clark improved slightly in round two with a 73 (+3), while both Jackson and O’Leary matched their round one scores. 

ROUNDS THREE

Due to inclement weather, the third round of the ACC Men’s Golf Championships has been moved to Sunday morning.
