On the eve of Sunday’s 2 p.m. (ET) showdown in the final game of the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic between the No. 4/10 University of Notre Dame men’s soccer team and No. 14/13 Indiana, here are the important details leading into the tournament’s closing contest.

IRISH AGAINST INDIANA

Indiana maintains a 26-8-2 series advantage over Notre Dame entering this weekend’s adidas/IU Credit Union Classic, although the Irish have earned a result in four of their past six meetings against the Hoosiers. Indiana claimed a narrow 1-0 decision over Notre Dame on Oct. 22 of last year at Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington.

Indiana and Notre Dame have never met on a neutral field in the history of the series, which dates back to 1978.

SCOUTING THE HOOSIERS

No. 14/13 Indiana welcomes back 16 veterans from its 2014 squad that posted a 12-5-5 mark, reaching the final of the Big Ten tournament and the first round of the NCAA Championship. A total of 11 different Hoosier players notched at least one goal last season. Indiana defeated St. John’s 1-0 to open the 2015 campaign on Friday night thanks to a 33rd minute goal from junior defender Phil Fives.

Junior midfielder Tanner Thompson led all Indiana players with six goals and 15 points in
2014 after attempting a team-high 28 shots on goal. Thompson took all four Hoosier penalty kicks last season, connecting on two tries, and added a pair of game-winning goals.

Head coach Todd Yeagley is in his sixth season at Indiana in 2015, compiling a 60-34-17 (.617) record since assuming the role at his alma mater in 2009. The Hoosiers won the 2012 NCAA Championship as the tournament’s national No. 16 seed.

IRISH KEEP OPENING UNBEATEN STREAK ALIVE

Following its 0-0 draw against No. 13/6 Maryland on Friday to open the 2015 season and the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic, Notre Dame extended its unbeaten streak in season openers to five. The Irish have earned a result in season lid-lifters every season since 2011.

Notre Dame is 2-0-3 during its undefeated surge in recent season openers, with all five matches taking place against top 25 opponents. All three draws since 2011 have featured identical 0-0 game finals.

HUBBARD STANDS TALL AGAINST MARYLAND

In his first career regular season start on Friday against Maryland, junior goalkeeper Chris Hubbard was up to the task against the Terrapin offense. Hubbard was officially credited with four saves over 110 minutes in the 0-0 draw to kick off the 2015 season.

FORWARDS POUR ON THE OFFENSIVE PRESSURE

Of the 10 total Notre Dame shots against Maryland, six tries were attempted by the Irish forward corps. Sophomores Jeffrey Farina and Jon Gallagher finished the contest with three shots each to lead the Notre Dame offense.

Gallagher was credited with two official shots on goal, while Farina added one try that found its way on net.
