Kavanagh Selected As Tewaaraton Nominee

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Junior Pat Kavanagh was named one of 25 men’s nominees for the 2022 Tewaaraton Award announced Thursday by The Tewaaraton Foundation.

The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.

The 2022 Tewaaraton Watch Lists Presented by AXIA Time were first unveiled Feb. 10, with additions announced March 10 and April 1. The five men’s and five women’s finalists will be announced in early May and will be invited to the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony in Washington, D.C., on June 2.

Kavanagh was a Tewaaraton Finalist during the 2021 season after enjoying a breakout season. The attackman currently leads the Irish in points (45), goals (19), assists (26). He is also second in caused turnovers (10) and ground balls (31).

Last season Kavanagh became the all-time single-season ND assist record holder, passing older brother Matt (33) for the record. Matt’s 33-assist season came in an 18-game 2014 season.
