BRYAN, Texas – Senior co-captain Katie Brophy (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) carded a nine-over par 81 during the third and final round of play at the `Mo’ Morial at the par 72, 6,307-yard Traditions Club on Sunday. Her three-round total of 234 (+18) placed her 16th overall out of the 96-golfer field. As a team, Notre Dame shot a 349 (+61) on the day and finished 18th with a 1,012 (334-329-349) total.
Arkansas began the day two shots in front of Texas A&M, yet the host Aggies would produce a 313 to catch the Razorbacks and they would both conclude the tournament as co-champions with identical 923 scores (+59). Arkansas entered play ranked 10th in the latest golfstat.com rankings, while Texas A&M was 19th. TCU fired the low-round of the day with a 308 to claim third-place out of the competitive field.
Ashley Knoll from Texas A&M increased her lead on the final day to take medalist honors with a two-over par three-round total of 218 (74-70-74). TCU’s Elin Emanuelsson placed second with a 225 total.
Brophy finished just four shots away from cracking the top-10 for the third time season. Her third round total of 81 paced the Fighting Irish on the day.
Junior Noriko Nakazaki (Hanover Park, Ill./Hoffman Estates) shot an 87 on Sunday to finish with a 251 (82-82-87) total and in a tie for 69th. Senior Lauren Gebauer (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) carded an 88 for the last 18 holes to conclude the `Mo’ Morial with a 261 (86-87-88) and tied for 83rd. Notre Dame freshman Lisa Maunu (St. Thomas, Ontario/Parkside Collegiate Institute) finished 90th with a 267 (87-87-93). Suzie Hayes (Dublin, Ireland/Loreto College), a senior co-captain, posted a three-round score of 274 (91-86-97) to place 93rd.
