Julius Jones To Star In College Football All-Star Challenge

Jan. 26, 2004

Chicago, Ill. – Julius Jones will be one of eight players to participate in the 2004 Capital One College Football All-Star Challenge at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. The Challenge will air on FOX, Sunday, Feb. 1, at 12:30 p.m. EST and is hosted by Dick Stockton, Bill Maas and Jason Garrett.

The Capital One All-Star Challenge will feature some of the greatest of the 2003 college football season. The star-studded list includes Jones, Roy Williams (WR-Texas), Reggie Williams (WR-Washington), Jeff Smoker (QB-Michigan State), Casey Claussen (QB-Tennessee), Jared Lorenzen (QB-Kentucky), John Navarre (QB-Michigan) and Chris Perry (RB-Michigan).

The eight players are split into four teams. Each team consists of one quarterback and one wide receiver or one running back. There are four separate events within the College Football All-Star Challenge and scores are cumulative, leading to one overall winner. Last year’s winner was the team of Ken Dorsey and Brandon Lloyd (both now with the San Francisco 49ers).

The College Football All-Star Challenge has featured some of the all-time bests in college football. Previous participants include Donovan McNabb, Edgerrin James, Daunte Culpepper, Charles Rogers, Quincy Carter, Partick Ramsey and Jones’ brother Thomas. Notre Dame players who have participated include Arnaz Battle in 2003.

The event will take place on Friday, Jan. 30, in front of a live audience of NASA Community members and will air as part of FOX Sunday the day of the Super Bowl.
