Jones Suspended

March 10, 2001

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Irish head coach Bob Davie announced that Notre Dame would be without its leading rusher for Spring Practice.

The team suspended sophomore tailback Julius Jones from the team for the spring season. Jones violated an unspecified University rule but the tailback will remain in school.

He still maintains a full course load.

Jones is expected to return in time for fall practice.

This spring’s running game will focus mainly on the talents of Terrance Howard, Chris Yura and Garron Bible.

Tailback Tony Fisher will sit out the spring drills due to shoulder surgery.

Jones was not available for comment as Notre Dame’s spring break started on Friday.
