Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Jon Gruden has been named a guest speaker at the 2007 Notre Dame Football Coaches Clinic, Irish head coach Charlie Weis announced Monday. Gruden will address the coaches on Saturday morning, April 14. Pre-registration, which originally was to end March 27, will now be extended to April 6 because of the announcement. Coaches can register by following the instructions at www.ndcoachesclinic.com.

Gruden just completed his fifth season as head coach of the Buccaneers and ninth year as a head coach in the National Football League. The product of South Bend Clay High School has led the Bucs to two division titles and the first Super Bowl title in franchise history. Gruden has compiled an 82-70 record in nine seasons as an NFL head coach and is the youngest head coach to ever win a Super Bowl.

The Notre Dame Coaches Clinic is Friday, April 13 and Saturday, April 14 on the campus of Notre Dame. Coaches will be privy to a number of activities including presentations by each member of the Notre Dame football coaching staff including Coach Weis, watching practice both days, taking part in ³chalk talk² events and attending a coaches social event. Friday¹s practice will focus on individual technique and give coaches the opportunity to learn new drills for each position on the field. Saturday¹s practice will be a scrimmage at Notre Dame Stadium that will not be open to the public. The ³chalk talk² sessions will be in small-group settings allowing for easier interaction and communication with other coaches and members of the Notre Dame staff.
