Joe Turk Named ACC Swimmer of the Week

Turk went unbeaten at the Ohio State Winter Invite

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Senior Joe Turk has been named ACC Swimmer of the Week after his unbeaten showing at the Ohio State Winter Invitational. Competing in the last meet of his collegiate career, Turk placed first in all four of his events.

To kick off the weekend, Turk won the 200 IM finals race after narrowly missed the top spot in prelims, second only to Tristan Lin from Johns Hopkins (1:49.61). In finals, he made his move up to win the event, overtaking Lin by almost two seconds and touching the wall in 1:47.67.
To end the first night, the men’s team of Turk, JP Becker, Charles Korndorffer and Alec DeLong won the men’s 400 Medley Relay with a 3:17.18.
On Saturday, Turk added onto his success from the first day, claiming the top preliminary time in the men’s 400 IM (3:53.78). In finals, he shaved three seconds off, turning in a win (3:50.71- B Cut).
In Sunday morning races, Turk noted the top time coming out of prelims with a 1:47.72 in the men’s 200 Back. He held onto the top spot in the event in finals, touching the wall in 1:46.01 for his third individual win of the weekend, and fourth overall win.

“Joe Turk finished off his senior career very well,” Notre Dame head coach Mike Litzinger shared. “We’re very proud of all of our seniors, and Joe had an exceptional meet.”

The honor marks the 11th time a Notre Dame student-athlete has earned the Performer of the Week title this season.
