Notre Dame, Ind. — Recent Notre Dame graduate Jennifer Engelhardt (Battle Creek, Mich.) finished seventh in the U.S. Olympic Trials at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, Calif., on Sunday.

Engelhardt qualified for the finals on Friday when she cleared 5-10 3/4 in the preliminary competition. On Sunday, Engelhardt jumped 5-10 3/4 once again, but was unable to clear the next height of 6-0 3/4. Amy Acuff (New Balance), Erin Aldrich (University of Texas), Tisha Waller (Nike), and Karol Damon (Unattached) all tied for first in the competition.

Engelhardt finishes her career at Notre Dame holding the women’s high jump record of 6-0 3/4, which she set at the 1999 Mt. SAC Relays. She became the first woman at Notre Dame to earn All-American status in a field event at the 1997 NCAA Indoor Championships by clearing 5-8 1/2 in the high jump. Engelhardt was also a three-time BIG EAST outdoor champion in the high jump.
