Sept. 19, 2017

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Tuesday that University of Notre Dame sophomore Natalie Jacobs has been named ACC Offensive Player of the Week following her career performance at No. 11 Clemson.

Jacobs’ career-high four points on one goal and a two assists led the Irish to a dominant 4-2 victory over the Tigers on Saturday at Riggs Field. The Irish forward scored Notre Dame’s third goal, a shot across the box, off the left post and into the back of the net. Jacobs also tallied two-assists — a single-game career high.

Jacobs contributed to Notre Dame’s fourth performance of four goals this season, all coming against a Clemson defense that previously had allowed just two goals in 2017.

The weekly honor marks the first of Jacobs’ young career. The sophomore from Coto de Caza, California, owns a career-best 15 points on six goals and three assists this season. Jacobs’ six goals pace the Irish, which rank at the top of the ACC in shots (159) and fourth in goals (20).

In 2015, Jacobs appeared in 20 games and totaled 13 points on four goals and five assists before spending the 2016 season competing as a central defender with the United States U-20 Women’s National Team at the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Notre Dame returns to action when it hosts No. 4 Duke at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday at Alumni Stadium. The match will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
