Jack Kiser Selected For Wuerffel Trophy Preseason Watch List

The Wuerffel Trophy, College Football’s Premier Award for Community Service, today announced its watch list of 115 players from college football’s
Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS). Senior linebacker Jack Kiser was among those named to the list.

Jack Kiser Information:

  • Played in all 13 games for the Irish in 2021-22, including eight starts.
  • Finished seventh on the defense with 45 total tackles, 26 of which were unassisted.
  • One of just two Irish players with multiple interceptions in 2021.
  • Became first Irish player with two defensive scores in the same season since Julian Love in 2017.
  • Forced two fumbles, created five pass breakups and two QB hurries, while adding one tackle for loss.
  • Tackled raising funds and being the team relation representative for the Fighting Irish Fight for Life (FIFFL) campaign, where a patient in the pediatric hematology/oncology unit of South Bend’s Beacon Children’s Hospital became a teammate of the football team. Raised a total of $56,500 for the FIFFL Food Pantry at  South Bend’s Beacon Children’s Hospital
  • Also served as a representative on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and was named executive lead for the Irish On 3 campaign, where he coordinated events and marketing projects to promote the unifying of all student-athletes at the University of Notre Dame to support one another on and off the court.

Named after Danny Wuerffel, the 1996 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from the University of Florida, the Wuerffel Trophy is presented each February in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. The trophy honors college football players who serve others, celebrate their positive impact on society and inspire greater service in the world.

The formal announcement of the 2022 recipient is scheduled to be made on December 8, and the presentation of the 2022 Wuerffel Trophy will occur on February 24, 2023.
