Ivey Named BIG EAST Co-Player Of The Week

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Notre Dame senior guard Niele Ivey (St. Louis, Mo.) has been named the BIG EAST Co-Player of the Week after averaging 18.0 points and 9.0 assists in two Irish victories last week. Ivey, who earns the honor for the fourth time in her career, shared the honor with Jenea Skeeters of Villanova.

Ivey had a season-high 22 points against Syracuse in Saturday’s 71-56 victory over the Orangewomen as she connected on a career-best six three-pointers in the contest. She also dished off eight assists which marked the 11th time this season she has had six or more assists in a game.

In Notre Dame’s 75-54 victory over Seton Hall, she recorded her fourth double-double of the season, and eighth in her career, as she scored 14 points and dished off 10 assists. In the two victories last week, Ivey shot 13-21 (.619) from the field.]

Ivey is averaging 11.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and a team-best 7.2 assists per game this season.

Notre Dame, which is ranked fifth (an all-time high) in the Associated Press poll this week, has won nine straight and owns a 13-2, 4-0 mark heading into tomorrow night’s (January 18) BIG EAST matchup at Pittsburgh.
