VANCOUVER, B.C. – Notre Dame senior Niele Ivey (St. Louis, Mo.) averaged 11.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in two games for the BIG EAST Women’s Basketball All-Stars against Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia. The All-Stars are 1-1 after their first two games of a six-game competitive tour of Vancouver and Victoria, British Colubia.

Ivey scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed three rebounds in a 76-64 loss on May 27 to Simon Fraser in the first meeting between the two teams. The following night (May 28), in a 64-46 victory over the same Simon Fraser squad, the Irish guard chipped in six points and tied for team-high rebounding honors with five boards.

This marks the 11th consecutive year the BIG EAST Conference has sent an all-star squad abroad. The team is coached by West Virginia head coach Alexis Basil and will resume play May 30 and May 31 with two more game against Simon Fraser. The tour concludes with games on June 2 and 3 against the University of Victoria.

Ivey, a second-team all-BIG EAST selection in 1999-2000, was the third leading scorer for the Irish this season as she averaged 11.7 points. She also led Notre Dame for the second consecutive year in assists (194) and (95). Ivey will return for a fifth season in 2000-2001 after playing just five games in 1996-97 followng a knee injury.
