Irish Wrap Up Weekend At Cardinal Invitational

The University of Notre Dame rowing team finished up the first weekend of competition at the Cardinal Invitational in Oak Ridge, Tennessee on Sunday, March 12 with four more quality races.

“We continued to learn about ourselves and what it is going to take to race well,” head coach Martin Stone said after the weekend. “We are excited to start our training camp during Spring Break.”

The First Varsity Eight began the day with a third place finish, logging a time of 6:29.280. The Varsity Four followed with a second place effort in 7:14.384.

The Third Varsity Eight, coxed by for the first time this season by junior Julianna Vidales, finished first in their heat with a time of 6:46.323.

The Second Varsity Eight wrapped up the day by taking second in its lone heat of the day, crossing the finish in 6:37.794.

Louisville, Tulsa and West Virginia were the Irish opponents in the four races.

The next event for the Irish will be the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, on March 25.
