Irish Women’s Lacrosse Set For Fall Action

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Notre Dame women’s lacrosse will take the field five times this fall, including a trio of play days and a pair of single games, as head coach Christine Halfpenny announced the fall slate on Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 22).

“We are excited to get back to off-season competition this fall and look forward to playing a variety of teams both home and away,” said Halfpenny. “The fall is a great opportunity to learn, grow and compete while building chemistry within the team.”

Notre Dame opens its fall slate by hosting Cincinnati and Marquette at Arlotta Stadium on Saturday, October 2. The Irish then host four more schools the following weekend, including Colorado and Michigan on Saturday, October 9 and Ohio State and Oregon on Sunday, October 10.

The squad heads west during fall break and takes on USC in Los Angeles on Sunday, October 17 before wrapping up the fall schedule with a road matchup at Northwestern on Friday, November 5.

The Irish are coming off of a 2021 campaign in which they earned a pair of NCAA Tournament victories and advanced to the Elite Eight for the fifth time in program history. 

Notre Dame returns a pair of IWLCA All-Americans in Bridget Deehan and Kasey Choma, in addition to IWLCA All-Region honoree Madison Ahern. Deehan is also one of three fifth-year standouts for the Irish alongside Maddie Howe and Diana Kelly. The Irish also welcome a seven-member freshman class to the fold in 2021-22.
