Irish Women's Golf Ties For Seventh At Bryan National Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The University of Notre Dame women’s golf team followed up its strong showing on from Saturday with another strong round Sunday, moving up another spot to finish in a tie for seventh at the Bryan National Collegiate on the Bryan Park Golf and Enrichment Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. The No. 30 Irish turned in a team score of 909 after carding a Day 3 score of 301.

The Fighting Irish recorded their eighth (of eight) top 10 finish of the year and landed ahead of four ranked opponents, including No. 9 Northwestern, in a field containing 11 teams ranked in the top 50. No. 12 Virginia won the team title in a playoff with fellow Atlantic Coash Conference foe No. 13 Wake Forest, with both teams recording a three-day total of 900.

Junior Talia Campbell (Dallas, Texas/Ursuline Academy) continued her strong play, leading the Irish again to finish in a tie for sixth place by shooting a one-over-par 73 to register a three-day score of 222 (78-71-73). Sophomore Jordan Ferreira (University Place, Wash./ Bellarmine Prep) finished in a tie for 14th place, firing a 77 for a three-day total of 225 (75-73-77).

Virginia’s Briana Mao (216-70-74-72) won the individual crown, parring the day to finish a stroke ahead of Wake Forest’s Sierra Sims (217-72-76-69) and Auburn’s Kelli Murphy (217-72-76-69), who posted the day’s best rounds.

Senior Ashley Armstrong (Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) replicated her performance from Saturday, shooting a four-over-par 76 to finish in a tie for 17th with a total of 226 (74-76-76). Senior Kelli Oride (Lihue, Hawaii/Kauai) moved up 13 spots from Saturday to finish in a tie for 67th (239-85-79-75), while freshman Kari Bellville ended the day in 84th with a 246 (82-82-82).

The Bryan National Collegiate provided the Irish with their final warm up before the ACC Championships tee off in two weeks and run April 17-19 at the nearby Sedgefield Golf Club in Greensboro.
