Irish Women Wrap NCAA Championships

Harris earns bronze while DaDamio races to strong finish on final day in Austin.

AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Notre Dame track and field program concluded its run at the NCAA Outdoor Championships Saturday evening, tallying nine points over two days of competition and finishing in a tie for 30th overall.

An incredible career by Jessica Harris came to a close with a bronze medal finish in the 1,500m finals and All-American honors. Leading the pack early in the race, Harris, Johnson of Oklahoma State and Hull of Oregon, all battled for the title through the final 400m. Harris eventually crossed the line third overall in a season-best time of 4:11.96.

The women’s 5K finals featured senior Rachel DaDamio who secured the final spot in the championship meet in the East Region Prelims. As the heat index reached over 100 degrees, DaDamio finished her season in 16:43.69 and 20th overall.

The men’s team finished 28th overall, accumulating 10 points with Yared Nuguse’s title win in the 1,500m finals Friday night.
