The Notre Dame women’s tennis team turned in an undefeated day at the Eck Classic Saturday, posting a perfect 5-0 record.

The Irish trio of Kali Krisik, Katie Potts, and Kelcy Tefft bounced back from a 2-2 day Friday to capture every match in the second of three days of action in Notre Dame’s fall invitational.

Krisik and Tefft earned hard-fought singles victories, both climbing back from 5-1 set deficits.

Tefft trailed Megan Fudge of Illinois 5-1 in the first set before winning 11 straight games to take the match 7-5, 6-0. The Irish sophomore is 2-0 on the weekend and will face DePaul’s Dunja Antunovic in the Blue Flight final Sunday.

Krisik scored her first home win as a member of the Irish by defeating Western Michigan’s Noriko Saruta. Krisik battled to win the first set 7-5 before falling behind Saruta 5-1 in the second. A determined effort from the Irish rookie sent the second set to a tiebreaker where she prevailed for a 7-5, 7-6 win. Krisik will face Kristina Minor of Illinois in the Gold Flight consolation final tomorrow.

Katie Potts rebounded from Friday’s singles loss by defeating Leigh Finnegan of the Fighting Illini. The Notre Dame sophomore won the first set 6-2 and was leading 4-2 in the second before Finnegan was forced to retire. Potts will look to capture the Blue Flight consolation championship tomorrow when she faces Kerstin Pahl of Western Michigan.

Krisik and Potts teamed up to win the doubles flight of the tournament, posting two victories Saturday. The duo defeated the Western Michigan pair of Priyanka Parekh and Saruta 8-5 in the semifinals before defeating another Bronco team, Ashley Moccia and Pahl 8-6 in a see saw championship match.

With doubles play completed, Sunday’s action will feature only singles, including the flight championship matches beginning at 9 a.m. at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.
