Irish Women's Soccer Team To Be Featured In Three Televised Games During First Month Of Season

Aug. 29, 2007

The Notre Dame women’s soccer team will be featured in three televised games during the first month of the season – versus Michigan (Aug. 31; Comcast Local), Florida (Sept. 2; Sunshine Network) and Penn State (Sept. 23; ESPN-U). The Irish also could appear twice more on television during the early stages of the postseason, as CSTV will telecast the BIG EAST semifinals (Nov. 9) and championship game (Nov. 11).

Friday’s game with Michigan will air live throughout the Comcast Local affiliates in Michigan and Indiana but will not be available in South Bend on Comcast channel-3. The game also will be rebroadcast on Comcast Chicago on Sept. 3 at 8:00 p.m. eastern (Direct TV channel 640). The Sunshine Network is channel 632 on Direct TV. As always, also be sure to check your local listings for availability of any of these televised games (live or rebroadcast).

Fans are reminded of multiple ways – live-stats, live audio, text updates and hotline – to follow the in-game status and final results for Notre Dame games throughout the season (offerings vary by game, due to site amenities):

• GameTracker live stats – provided for all home games and most road games (linked via the main page at und.com, the women’s soccer main page and the schedule page) … new design and functionality upgrades to the soccer GameTracker will be similar to those introduced last spring with baseball/softball … the new interface will be expanded in size, with integrated bios and headsohts, enhanced field/court views and animation, national scoreboards … further enhancements (beyond those from last spring) will allow fans to “watch” GameTracker as animation will be displayed before the text description (building a sense of anticipation for the play), in addition to providing additional textual information to complement the statistics (i.e. record-setting notes or expanded info. on a goal sequence) … there also will be a new game summary that allows the user to view various stages of the game (pregame, first/second half and postgame), with the pregame page including links to weekly-release gamenotes … see the following link for more info. on these exciting new additions to GameTracker: http://www.cstv.com/online/gametracker/2007-08/index.html

• Live in-game internet audio broadcast (free on und.com) – links are located in same area as the live-stats … note that live-audio is available for all home games and possibly for the upcoming tournament at Santa Clara (TBA; vs. SCU and Stanford)

• Free text-message updates – fans can sign up for free Irish Alert text messages (sent to cellphones or other mobile devices) – which will include text updates sent several times during Sunday’s game … the quick signup can be made via links on und.com (see right sidebar on women’s soccer page, direct link is: http://my.textcaster.com/ServePopup.aspx?id=535) … fans may select the specific ND sports text updates that they would like to receive through the Irish Alert system.

• The ND Sports Hotline will include a halftime update and a final recap of the game (plus info. on any weather delays, should they occur) … the hotline number is (574) 631-3000, then choose option 4 and then option 2 for women’s soccer updates
