Irish Women's Golf Places Third At The Lady Northern Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. –

The Irish shot a plus-23 311 in the final day of play at the Lady Northern Invitational to finish in third place at the tournament. Junior Annie Brophy (Spoakne, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) led Notre Dame by firing a plus-six 222, good for a fourth place finish. Brophy shot a plus-five 77 in the third round at the par-72, 6,276 yard Kampen course. Brophy’s fourth place finish was aided by eight birdies on the weekend, tied for the second-most in the 82-player field. She also posted an impressive minus-three total for her par-five’s, the best mark in the field.

Host Purdue was able to win the tournament with an 895, while Boilermaker Maria Hernandez finished with a plus-one mark to earn medalist honors.

Irish Freshman Becca Huffer (Denver, Colo./Littleton HS) shot Notre Dame’s low round of the day, firing a plus-four 76. For the tournament, Huffer posted a plus-12 228, putting her in ninth place, her best finish of the season.

Sophomore So-Hyun Park (Seoul, South Korea/Bradenton Prep) finished in 15th place with a 231. To post her 231, Park shot a plus-seven 79 in her final round. For the tournament, Park ranked first overall in par-3 scoring, as she carded a minus-one combined mark for the 12 par three’s she played over the weekend.

Sophomore Katie Conway (Wading River, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) rounded out Notre Dame’s scoring on the final day of play, carding a plus-seven 79. She finished in a tie for 20th place, as she shot a plus-18 234 for the weekend.

Lisa Maunu (St. Thomas, Ontario/Parkside Collegiate Institute) shot an 83 in the third round, putting her at plus-23 for the tournament.

Junior Kristin Wetzel (Middletown, N.Y./Hilton Head Prep), playing under independent status, shot her third consecutive 81 at the Kampen Course, giving her a 243 total.

Notre Dame will conclude the fall portion of its schedule with a trip to Wilmington, North Carolina to take part in the Landfall Tradition tournament, being played on October 24, 25 and 26 at the Country Club of Landfall.
