Senior Annie Brophy carded a 226 (+10) to tie for second at this year's BIG EAST Championship, which wrapped up Tuesday at the Innisbrook Resort/Island Course in Palm Harbor, Fla.

Irish Women's Golf Moves Up To Eighth At The Mercedes Benz Championship

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Irish women’s golf team shot a 300 in the second round of the 2009 Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championship to move up to eighth (606/+30) at the Fox Den Country Club. Senior co-captain Annie Brophy (Spokane, Wash./Gonzaga Prep) led the second day move up the leaderboard with an even-par 72.

Brophy took five strokes off of her first round score to card a 72, bringing her two-day total to 149 and placing her in a tie for 21st. Her second round included 10 pars, four birdies and four bogeys. She finished strong, carding three birdies and two pars to close out her second round.

Sophomore Becca Huffer (Denver, Colo./Littleton) turned in a second round 74 to bring her two-day total to 149, tying her with Brophy for 21st on the individual leaderboard. Her second round included two birdies, 12 pars and four bogeys.

Katie Conway (Wading River, N.Y.) turned in another solid round for the Irish, carding a four-over par 76 to move her two-day total to 153. Currently tied for 42nd, both of Conway’s rounds at the Mercedes Benz Championship have counted towards Notre Dame’s team score. Her second round included a birdie, 12 pars and five bogeys.

Junior So-Hyun Park (Seoul, South Korea/Bradenton Prep) closed out the scoring for the Irish with a second round 78. Her day included two birdies, nine pars, six bogeys and a double. Senior co-captain Kristin Wetzel (Middletown, N.Y./Hilton Head Prep) shot a second round 83.

Sara-Maude Juneau of Louisville is the current leader at minus-three. On the team leaderbaord, Tennessee remains in front with a two-round total of 574.
