NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Notre Dame swimmers Abbie Dolan, Coleen Gillilan, Carly Quast and Luciana Thomas have been selected to the NCAA Women’s Swimming Championships, the NCAA announced Wednesday. In total, the Irish are eligible for 12 swims, in addition to two relays.

“To make the NCAA Championships is an incredible accomplishment for our team,” Notre Dame head coach Mike Litzinger shared. “Right now, we are preparing the group for some championship-level swims, with three of the women having competed at the NCAAs previously.

“It’s a good, seasoned squad that has great potential,” he added.

Senior Dolan returns to the NCAA Championships for her fourth consecutive season, posting a qualifying time in the 200 Free (1:44.60). Gillilan, a freshman, qualified for the championships in three events: 200 IM (1:56.69), 100 Fly (52.13 – school record) and 200 Fly (1:54.79).

Junior Quast, a three-year NCAA participant, qualified in the 100 Back (52.55), and Thomas, a sophomore, qualified for her second NCAA Championship meet, posting a 1:54.70 in the 200 Fly.

In addition to individual events, the four swimmers will combine to compete in both the 400 Medley Relay and the 200 Medley Relay.

At this point in the season, only the women’s swimmers have been selected to the championships.

“Next week are the zone diving championships, and there, we hope to add a few more athletes to our contingent,” Litzinger noted. Irish divers will compete in the Zone C Championships in Lexington, Ky., from March 12-14.
