The Notre Dame women’s soccer team (19-4-2) – riding one of the nation’s longest unbeaten streaks (16-0-1) – will take on Florida State (17-5-3) in an NCAA semifinal rematch, on Friday, Dec. 7, at Texas A&M University … the game will kick off at 4:00 p.m. central and be shown live on both ESPN2 and ESPNU … the winner will advance to the championship game on Sunday, Dec. 9, versus the winner of Friday’s second semifinal between UCLA and USC (the title game will be televised live on ESPN2, at 1:00 p.m.) … ND and FSU also met in the 2006 NCAA semifinals, with the Irish winning that hard-fought battle (2-1) that also was the first meeting of the series between the teams … this marks only the second time in the 26-year history of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship that teams have faced each other in the semifinals during back-to-back NCAA tournaments … the Irish are appearing in the semifinals for the ninth time in the past 14 seasons and are looking to reach the title game for the seventh time in that 14-year span (1994-2007) … in addition to the TV broadcast, the other usual ways to follow the action also are available (GameTracker, Irish Alert text messages/signup up on, hotline/574-631-3000) … ND advanced through the first two rounds with home wins over Loyola Chicago (3-0) and Illinois (2-0) before winning in the round-of-16 at North Carolina (3-2) and topping Duke in the quarterfinals (3-2) … FSU’s tournament run has featured wins over Kennesaw State (3-0), LSU (4-0), Texas (4-0) and Connecticut (3-2, OT), all at home.
