Sophomore right wing Austin Wuthrich scored the game-winning goal just 29 seconds into the third period as the Irish defeated Michigan, 3-1, in the CCHA Championship game.

Irish Win CCHA Title With A 3-1 Win Over Michigan

Detroit, Mich. – Notre Dame got goals from Anders Lee, Austin Wuthrich and Jeff Costello while Steven Summerhays stopped 20-of-21 Michigan shots as the Irish downed the Wolverines, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon to win the CCHA Championship.

Wuthrich got the game winner just 29 seconds into the third period to snap a 1-1 tie and Costello scored at 18:53 to seal the victory.

Notre Dame outshot Michigan by a 33-21 margin as freshman Steve Racine made 30 saves in the Wolverine goal.

The win was the third win by the Irish over Michigan in a CCHA title game and was the third CCHA championship for Notre Dame since the 2006-07 season.

The Irish are now 25-12-3 on the season and will advance to the NCAA Championships. The team will find out at 9:00 p.m. tonight where they will be seeded and what regional they will play in. The selection show will be televised by ESPNU.
